But I had to open it up to pinpoint my source of sleepless nights.
Saw a really really good deal on the reel online and thought that I would acquire it, test it out, write a review, and sell it back. Well, you know like they say, if the price is too good to be true, it usually is.

With the price I paid, I know I wasn't getting a perfect product. Scratches were expected, which I can live with, hey, beauty is only skin deep!
To my horror, not only the reel has scratches, the thing turns like a grinding machine! The noise and the vibration felt during the turn of the handle made me break out in a cold sweat. Did I just burned my money?

Further check revealed that the idiot who sold me the reel actually either tried to service it himself, or sent it to another incompetent fool for service.
Thankfully, there wasn't any damage to the centrifugal brake system. That is the worst place to get it damaged as the spool is not replaceable at the moment. Long story short, after I opened up the reel, cleaned the worm drive, cleaned the gears, put on new coat of grease, lubed all the bearings, put it back together again and yet, the grinding feeling is still there!
After some trial and error, I manage to pinpoint the source of my dismay, it was the cast control knob bearing.

Went to the local bearing shop to get a replacement and bought extra 4x7x2.5 for the knobs as well. After replacing the faulty bearing, the reel felt like new again! Now, to take it to the waters....
